Welcome to Equine Nirvana!

Welcome to Equine Nirvana. I created this practice from a deep love of horses and a belief that every horse, pony, donkey, and mule deserves to move with comfort, balance, and ease.

As a Masterson Method ® Certified Practitioner (MMCP) with over 500 hours of professional training, I bring both skill, intuition, and science to every session. Using gentle, proven techniques, I help horses release tension and let go of restrictions that can build up over time. This work not only improves freedom of movement, but also supports their emotional well-being and overall sense of balance.

I don’t force change; I listen. I watch for subtle signs, honor what each horse is ready to share, and work with them at their own pace. My goal is to support not just physical comfort, but also the trust, connection, and partnership between horse and human.

At Equine Nirvana, it’s about more than bodywork—it’s about helping your horse find their way back to balance, and giving you both the gift of a deeper bond.

About the Masterson Method®

Horses can’t verbally tell us when something hurts or feels tight, but they do communicate through how they move, perform, and behave. What we often think of as “training issues” — resistance, shortened stride, reluctance to bend — are sometimes the body’s way of signaling that something deeper is going on.

The Masterson Method® is a unique, interactive form of equine bodywork that works with the horse’s nervous system rather than against it. Instead of forcing movement or applying heavy pressure, we use gentle techniques, subtle responses, and the horse’s own feedback to release accumulated tension and restrictions. This approach not only addresses the muscles, but also the deeper structures that influence movement and comfort — including joints, ligaments, and the entire musculoskeletal system.

Because this method invites the horse to actively participate in the process, the results often go beyond physical improvement. Many horses experience a noticeable shift in demeanor — becoming softer, more relaxed, and more willing partners under saddle.

Bodywork using the Masterson Method can support your horse in many ways, whether they’re an athlete in training, a trail or hunt partner, or a beloved retiree. It can be especially helpful for horses experiencing:

  • Stiffness, resistance, or shortened stride

  • Difficulty bending, picking up leads, or engaging the hind end

  • Behavioral changes under saddle (bucking, ear pinning, head tossing)

  • Uneven muscle development or recurring soreness

  • General tension, discomfort, or difficulty relaxing

  • Transitions or changes in routine (such as moving barns, adjusting to a new rider, or other stressors that may cause subtle emotional upsets)

  • Recovery needs after illness, injury, or time off

About the Soft Touch Technique

Soft Touch is a gentle, horse-led technique designed to support the release of physical — and especially emotional — tension. It’s particularly helpful for horses who are sensitive or reactive to deeper physical work or cannot tolerate extensive physical manipulation for any reason. By using light contact and presence, Soft Touch helps horses process and let go of stored emotional stress, which in turn allows their bodies to relax, rebalance, and settle more fully. It’s a valuable tool in my toolbox, especially for horses that fall outside the “typical” bodywork spectrum.

Always Expanding

You can expect more techniques and modalities to be added to this section over time. I’m always learning, growing, and seeking new ways to support the horses I work with. My goal is to build a diverse toolbox of approaches so that every client receives the type and style of bodywork that best meets their individual needs.

Each Masterson Method® bodywork session is tailored to your equine and typically lasts 1–2 hours. During that time, I use gentle, proven techniques to help release tension, restore freer movement, and ease compensatory patterns. I carefully record each session to track changes and progress over time, which can be a valuable resource alongside veterinary care, farrier work, and training.
